“On Memory” by Jerome K. Jerome

”There is no returning on the road of life. The frail bridge of time on which we tread sinks back into eternity at every step we take. The past is gone from us forever.”

We cannot live in the past because once it is gone, it is gone forever. There is no time machine that can take us back 30 seconds, 1 month, or even years. As we go on this journey called life, we cannot ask for a do over. If you made a mistake or lost a person you loved, you cannot go back to the time you had spent with them. Life is all about moving forward. If we lived in the past then there could be no change in life. People would be reliving mistakes or regrets and nobody wants that.
