Holy Water by Joan Didion

“Some of us who live in arid parts of the world think about water with a reverence others might find excessive.”

We do not think that much about water because we have the privilege of having clean, drinkable water unlike other people. Some countries barely have water and if they do have water it is sometimes contaminated. Water is a precious resource and valuable to individuals such as farmers. In some parts of the United States, such as California, preserve their water because it does not rain in the west as much as it does in the east. There are more droughts in the west than the east so when it comes to water, they have to know how much to let drain out of the dam. For example, one scene of a movie involved a truck being submerged under water but they could not do it because a tropical storm had come through and dumped two inches of rain the day before. Therefore they could not drain water from the Davis Dam, and they had to wait till Tuesday to begin filming again.
